Create the key in Google AI Studio, from the API keys page. New accounts get a default project and a key after you accept the terms. Keys created now are auth keys.
Before Veo will run on the paid tier, link a billing account and prepay at least $5. Set a billing alert in Google Cloud if you want a warning when spend jumps. That alert is not a hard stop on the key.
One Google key pays for Omni, Veo, Nano Banana, and Gemini text drafts. Veo on this key is the Gemini row, video with audio. Veo 3.1 Standard is $0.40 a second at 720p and 1080p. The $0.20 figure is Vertex video with no audio, and a Google key pasted into lotgen does not reach Vertex.
