Kling AI pricing explained: how many dollars a credit really is

Kling sells two meters that share a name and not a spreadsheet. The website app spends credits. The developer API spends Units at $0.14. Mixing them is how “Kling is $X per video” pages disagree. This page converts both to dollars, shows the formula, and stamps the date.

Prices checked on 2026-09-18 against Kling’s English membership API (the same catalog the membership page loads), Kling’s Credits Policy, and Kling’s developer pricing. Third-party price posts are not used as list prices.

How to read this table

Purchased credit packs from GET https://kling.ai/api/store/package/v3/points the same day (no membership required to buy them; membership still gates 1080p and watermark removal):

Pack (payload name)Credits in the packList$ per credit
point-33000330$5.00$0.01515
point-66000660$10.00$0.01515
point-1320001,320$20.00$0.01515
point-3500003,300 + 200 bonus$50.00$0.0143 on the whole pack
point-7500006,600 + 900 bonus$100.00$0.0133 on the whole pack

Larger packs stay on that endpoint. Bonus credits are extra units in the payload, not a second currency. Purchased-credit ttlMillis is 63,072,000,000 ms (730 days / 2 years), matching the Credits Policy.

What a credit buys

Kling does not publish a public credits-per-second table for the website app. The Credits Policy is explicit: consumption is “subject to the display of the relevant interface at that time.” The generate chip in the app is the source of truth for how many credits that take will burn.

What the policy does pin down:

The public per-second meter is the developer API, on kling.ai/dev/pricing. English copy on that page, 2026-09-18:

Video API: 1 Unit = $0.14 (list). Image API on the same page uses 1 Unit = $0.0035. Same word, different dollar. Do not convert video with the image unit.

Kling 3.0 (per second)720p1080p4K
No native audio0.6 Units ($0.084/s)0.8 Units ($0.112/s)3.0 Units ($0.42/s)
Native audio0.9 Units ($0.126/s)1.2 Units ($0.168/s)3.0 Units ($0.42/s)

The official Kling 3.0 audio row is labeled With Native Audio x No Voice Control. 4K is a flat $0.42/s either way. Native audio is a separate rate row at 720p and 1080p, not a multiplier you apply after the fact.

Kling 3.0 Turbo on the same page (native audio listed): 0.8 Units ($0.112/s) at 720p, 1.0 Unit ($0.14/s) at 1080p, 4K not listed. The page also lists Kling 3.0 Omni with extra video-input rows. This page prices the Kling 3.0 no-audio / native-audio cells above.

Crosswalk (computed from two official dollar pegs, not an in-app chip):

$1 purchased credits = 66 credits
1 video API Unit = $0.14
1 Unit ≈ 9.24 purchased credits ($0.14 × 66)

A 10-second Kling 3.0 clip at 1080p with native audio:

1.2 Units/s × 10 s = 12 Units
12 × $0.14 = $1.68 (API list)
12 × 9.24 = 110.88 credits (if the app burned the same dollars)

If the in-app chip shows a different credit count, trust the chip and keep the formula. Do not paste a blog’s “Kling is 20 credits” figure here. That number was not on Kling’s public pages today.

Kling 3.0 duration in lotgen’s adapter: 3 to 15 seconds (tested 2026-08-25). Re-check allowed lengths on Kling’s video API docs before you budget. This is a lotgen’s own test, not Kling marketing copy.

Effective cost per second by plan

Formula, so the page still works after Kling changes a cell:

dollars per credit = plan list dollars / credits in that month's grant
clip dollars = credits the take actually burns × dollars per credit

Until you read the in-app chip, the only public per-second dollars are API Units. The table below prices Kling 3.0, 1080p, native audio two ways: (1) the API list, (2) the same $1.68 take expressed as 110.88 credits and then converted at each plan’s list $/credit. Column 2 is a crosswalk, labeled as such.

Meter$ per second10-second clip
API Units, 1080p native audio$0.168$1.68
Standard list credits (crosswalk)$0.168$1.68
Pro list credits (crosswalk)$0.137$1.37
Premier list credits (crosswalk)$0.128$1.28
Ultra list credits (crosswalk)$0.077$0.77
Purchased top-up at $1 = 66$0.168$1.68

Worked Pro row:

$37.00 / 3,000 credits = $0.012333 per credit
110.88 × $0.012333 = $1.37 per 10-second 1080p-audio take
$1.37 / 10 s = $0.137 per second

Standard and purchased top-ups land on the same $0.168/s as the API because $10.00 / 660 = $1 / 66. Pro, Premier, and Ultra are cheaper per credit only if the grant is used. Unused membership credits still expire.

720p native audio, same method (0.9 Units/s → $0.126/s API → 83.16 credits per 10 s):

Meter10-second clip
API / Standard / top-up$1.26
Pro list$1.03
Premier list$0.96
Ultra list$0.58

1080p with no native audio (0.8 Units/s → $0.112/s → 73.92 credits per 10 s): $1.12 on API/Standard/top-up; $0.91 Pro; $0.85 Premier; $0.51 Ultra.

The hidden costs: expiry, no rollover, watermark, retries

List $/s is the sticker. The number that hits the card is:

usable-shot cost = (credits or Units the take burns) × (dollars per credit or per Unit) × attempts

Four things move that number more than the sticker.

  1. Expiry, not rollover. Credits Policy: membership credits last 1 month from distribution. Membership API TTL: 31 days. Purchased credits last 2 years. Trial credits last 7 days, then remaining trial credits are invalid (Kling’s trial footer copy). API resource packs: unused balance does not carry over and is cleared on expiration (dev pricing). A cheap per-second rate with a prepaid grant you do not burn is more expensive than a dearer pay-per-success API.
  2. Two kinds of “free retry.” App: failed generations return credits (Credits Policy). API: failed video generations do not deduct Units (dev pricing). A take that succeeds and is unusable still costs the full clip. 3× in the next section is a modeling assumption, not a measured keep rate. No lotgen.ai observed retry rate is on this page.
  3. Watermark and commercial use are membership gates, not credit prices. Paid members get brand watermark removal and commercial-use output in Kling’s membership benefit table. The paid-terms page (effective 2026-04-21) says members’ use of output for commercial purposes is not restricted, with the usual platform exceptions (including not using output to build a competing Kling product). Basic users can hold promotional or purchased credits and still be blocked from 1080p, watermark-off download, and related premium toggles. Budget the subscription if you need those toggles, not only the credits.
  4. Plan credits are not transferable the way some purchased credits are. Kling’s transfer copy: only credits purchased in a personal workspace can be transferred; bonus credits and plan credits are not eligible. Team purchased credits stay in that team workspace. Do not assume you can move a leftover Standard grant onto a Team seat.

No fake deadline is attached to the first-cycle prices above. They were on the page today. They may not be tomorrow.

If membership-credit expiry is the part of the bill you cannot see until the month ends, lotgen.ai quotes each take in dollars on your own keys and does not charge for a take you do not run.

A consumer Kling membership does not fund the developer API key. If you paste an official Kling key with no API resource pack, create fails with an insufficient-balance error. That is a different product from the website plan.

API pack SKUs (trial dollars, 5,000-Unit production packs, 180-day windows) were not printed as a public price table on the HTML fetched 2026-09-18. Re-check pack SKUs on kling.ai/dev/pricing. Do not use a remembered pack total until it is on that page.

Aside: Kling via a gateway (fal), not a third list price.

On 2026-09-18, fal’s Kling Video v3 Standard published $0.084/s audio off and $0.126/s audio on, which matches Kling’s own 720p 3.0 rows. Matching 720p does not mean every gateway matches 1080p or 4K. Always read the gateway row you will actually call. fal is not cited as Kling’s price.

Luma and Sora are models on fal or evolink, not keys you paste. They are out of scope for this Kling bill.

What a 10-second 1080p clip costs on each plan

Assumptions, all labeled:

Plan1 take3 attempts1-take clips in one monthly grantKept shots if every kept shot takes 3 attempts
Standard, $10.00 / 660 cr$1.68$5.04about 6about 2

Purchased credits at $1 = 66$1.68$5.04n/a (you buy the pack)n/a
API Units at $0.14$1.68$5.04n/a (pay per success)n/a

Standard at 3 attempts is roughly one to two kept 10-second 1080p-audio shots per monthly grant (660 / 332.64 ≈ 1.98). If you iterate at 720p with audio instead (83.16 credits per 10 s), the same Standard grant covers about 8 one-take clips, or about 2.6 kept shots at 3 attempts.

API dollars do not change when you “upgrade a plan,” because the API is not the plan. App dollars per clip fall on Pro / Premier / Ultra only while the grant lasts.

The sibling compare, Kling vs Veo cost, uses an 8-second row because Veo 3.1’s predict path does not accept 10 seconds. Kling can do 10. That is why this page’s worked clip is 10 seconds and the compare page’s fair clip is 8.

How to cap what you spend

On Kling you find out the credit burn at generate time, then learn the unused-grant loss at expiry. The control that matches a budget is a dollar quote before the take runs, on the keys you actually pay.

lotgen.ai is built as that control plane: one place to generate across the platforms it actually keys, see a real-dollar quote, compare takes, share a review link, and drive it via MCP. Invite-only beta. Public seat copy on lotgen.ai/pricing. You still pay the provider for seconds. lotgen does not resell Kling credits.

Twelve key platforms: Google, BytePlus ARK, fal, evolink, Kling, OpenAI, MiniMax, Black Forest Labs, Alibaba, ElevenLabs, xAI and Runway. Luma and Sora stay models on fal/evolink. BytePlus ARK is the console that issues the Seedance key, and the name to put on the invoice.

The same arithmetic across all of those keys is the AI video cost calculator.

FAQ

How much does Kling AI cost per video?

It depends on the meter. On the developer API, a 10-second Kling 3.0 clip at 1080p with native audio is 12 Units × $0.14 = $1.68 list. On the website app, the same dollars are a crosswalk of about 110.88 credits. At Standard list ($10.00 / 660 credits) that is also $1.68. At Pro list it is $1.37 if you actually spend the grant. Read the in-app generate chip; Kling does not publish a public credits-per-second table.

What is a Kling credit worth in dollars?

Kling's Credits Policy pegs purchased credits at $1 USD = 66 credits ($0.01515 each). That matches Standard list ($10.00 / 660) and the no-bonus credit packs. Pro, Premier, and Ultra are cheaper per credit only if the monthly grant is used before it expires.

Do Kling credits expire?

Yes. Membership subscription credits are valid 1 month from the date they are distributed (the membership API also sets a 31-day TTL). Purchased credits are valid 2 years. 7-day trial credits last 7 days. API resource packs do not roll over. Unused membership credits still expire.

Does a Kling membership pay for the Kling API?

No. The website membership is a credit balance. The developer API bills Units at $0.14 for video. A consumer membership does not fund an API key. If you paste an official Kling key with no API resource pack, create fails with an insufficient-balance error.

Why is there no credits-per-second table for the app?

Kling's Credits Policy says consumption is subject to the display of the relevant interface at that time. The generate chip is the source of truth. This page's 110.88 figure is a crosswalk from official API Units × $0.14 × 66 credits per dollar, labeled as such.

Are the 3-attempt columns a measured retry rate?

No. They are a modeling assumption. Multiply the one-clip price by however many takes you actually run. This page does not cite a public industry retry rate or a lotgen.ai observed keep rate.
